Will's Christmas Tree

I wanted to count down the days until Christmas with Will and I liked the idea of doing a Jesse tree with him but decided that concept would be over his head at this point.  Instead I decided to focus on the Nativity story and do a shorter countdown.  I used a book that tells the story and I broke it down into small sections.  Each day we will read that part of the story and make an ornament craft that relates to it.  Since Will is not much into crafts I wanted so additional motivation for him to pay attention to the story and make the ornaments.  I decided to give him his own tree and decorate it with pieces of candy.  Then each day after we read and make the ornament he can trade one candy ornament for his craft ornament on the tree. 

My only mistake was letting him put the tree in his bedroom.
The temptation was too great and we awoke the next morning to
three fewer pieces of candy on the tree!
