Baking Christmas Cookies

We joined Lindsay, Natalee, and Brady to bake Christmas cookies again this year.  It's become a tradition the kids all look forward to.  We've refined the process down to an art now so I actually enjoyed it this year too!  The kids play first to expend some energy.  We roll the dough and then they play again while the cookies bake and cool then they sit down to ice and decorate them.  Last year we used a glaze icing applied with paint brushes but this year we tried a cream cheese icing in squirt bottles.  It was less messy, but Will told me the next day it was more fun last year because of the paint brushes.  I guess more mess equals more fun!

After we enjoyed the fun of baking cookies we faced a much less pleasant time; saying a last goodbye to Lindsay's dog.  Meg had reached the end of a very long and happy (spoiled) life.  She was experiencing congestive heart failure and suffering with arthritis.  Lindsay made the merciful, selfless decision to let her go.  She was such a sweet, smart, loving dog and she will be sadly missed.

Meg couldn't walk well any longer but she couldn't resist the cookies!

And we couldn't resist letting her sneak one (or a few)!
