The older Napoleon gets, the further his tongue hangs out of his mouth when he is sleeping! He is only ten years old and his tongue is hanging out half an inch. We may start tripping over it by the time he's fifteen!

Mom and Grandad came up to watch Will's soccer game Saturday. We all had fun watching the game and Will was really proud to have an audience.
Mom also brought Jingles with her to visit Will. We kept her in the guest bathroom and needless to say, that's where Will spent most of his time this weekend!

Will narrowly avoided a kick to the head! |
Will's last game was today. His coach, Monica, gave all the kids a treat bag that included a gold medal. Will was so proud of his medal! |

Playing in the Mud
Will is fortunate to have a fun-loving aunt willing to do all those things that make a mother envious. I remember being a kid and making mud pies in the back yard and loving every minute of it. I wasn't the one who had to worry about the holes in the yard, the mud and cinder blocks on the patio (cinder blocks make a great oven for mud cookies - Kristen can tell you all about it) or the stains on my clothes. Playing in the mud was just plain fun.
And now, twenty years later, the mud still looks fun and I bet I could make some awesome mud cookies, except for my bad case of "grown-up brain." Now mud looks like a whole day of chores - scrubbing dirty fingernails, soaking (or sacrificing) shorts and shirts, scouring shoes, and mopping up the tracks from the back door to the bathroom.
I'll never discount all the joys of motherhood but sometimes I miss the days when mud looked more like fun and less like work. (In the fine print I should note that laziness on my part when it comes to cleaning definitely contributes to my new found aversion to mud!)

Kristen can always find the most fun things to do with Will! He loves it! |
Come back Aunt Andy!! I just want a hug! |
A New Kitten
If you watched the video of our Las Vegas trip you know that Will REALLY wants a kitten. Actually we would all really love to have a kitten but I am severely allergic to them. Fortunately grandma came to the rescue and made all Will's wishes come true!
A stray cat showed up in her yard and over a couple months she fell in love with it. (Bear in mind that my mom claims to have no real affinity for cats or dogs.) When she had decided that she would keep the cat and take it to the vet, she learned that the neighbor had also adopted him and she didn't want to "steal" the stray cat (which she has named Biscuit Head because of his large, wide shaped head). Since she had already gotten excited about the prospect of Will having a cat at her house, she decided to go adopt one from the Humane Society. She and Kristen picked a beautiful, sweet black and white kitten (which mom has now COMPLETELY fallen for!)
Will is so proud to be the owner of a kitten and takes his job very seriously. I would love to say that Will gave his new kitten a cute, creative name but he chose to name the cat after our neighbor's cat, Jingles.

Quote of the Day
Today Will and I were driving home from Bible study in Belleville and I pointed out a dog along the road that was missing one of his front legs.
Will said " Oh, the poor thing! Maybe God ran out of dog legs."

Beyond Soccer
Looking at my last several posts it appears that the only thing we do anymore is go to soccer games! In reality the weather has been incredibly nice recently and we've spent a good deal of time outside and at the parks.
We also enjoyed a brief visit from mom, grandma Margie, uncle Cecil and aunt Drema on Saturday. They weren't able to stay for long but we had a nice time while they were here.
Jerry had to travel to Missouri this week so Will and I passed the time having picnics yesterday and today. Will was so exhausted after playday and his time at the park with Caleb today that he fell asleep in my arms on the couch this evening! I guess that's how you know you've had a fun day! : )

This past weekend we went to the park in Alexandria to enjoy the warm weather. |

Will's First Soccer Game
Will had his first indoor soccer game last night! He had sooo much fun playing, especially when he played goalie.
Will was very excited to get his uniform and find out what his number was. He's number 2. |
Will's friends Natalee and Caleb all in line after the ball. |
Will is mostly hidden in this one but I loved the energy the other little boy has! |
Here is one of Will's two saves during the game! He was a great goalie! |
I saved the best for last! This one captures Will's approach to guarding the goal - put on your game face and keep moving! |
