Enjoying the outdoors

We were privileged to enjoy the company of a newly fledged young bird today.  Will and his friend Anthony spotted him in the flower bed - and of course proceeded to chase him, wanting a chance to pet and hold him.  I was successful in convincing them to let him be and he soon settled into the iris patch where he chirped desperately for his mother.  I was amazed that Will was willing to leave him alone since it is his lifetime goal to catch a bird!

I love the "eyebrow" feathers!
He was not happy that I found his hiding spot.

After everyone else went home, Jerry rode bikes with Will.  I was hoping to catch a shot of Jerry falling over to use as blackmail!  Will's new favorite thing to do while bike riding is to bump Jerry's back tire.
Will almost got him!

A Beautiful Sunday

After church today we packed a picnic lunch and went to Circleville park in State College.  They had a great picnic area and tons of fun stuff on the playground.  I wish we had remembered Will's bike because there were plenty of paved paths he could have ridden on.  Maybe next time!

Then we went to the Meadows for some ice cream tonight  : )

Just Hanging Out (the squirrles were anyhow)

We had great entertainment during dinner.  Two squirrels were enjoying the food I put out for them.  After having his fill the largest one stretched out on the bannister.  It was about the cutest thing I've seen!  He lounged there for a long time before he decided to move on!

Fishing at the Farm

Today we went fishing at Perry's farm.  Apparently his pond is so full of fish that Will was almost guaranteed to catch something!  We hoped it would renew his excitement about fishing since he was rather disillusioned after he didn't have any luck at the lake last week.

Helping reel in his catch!
I got a sideways glance because Will didn't want to stop looking at the
fish long enough to pose for a photo!

Summer is Around the Corner

Jerry hooked up the water hose for Will and a couple of the neghborhood kids to play in this evening.  It was just barely warm enough but they had a good time.

I'm glad to see that Will seems to have gotten over his aversion to water spraying in his face.  That should make the water parks much more fun this year.

Gone Fishing

We took Will to Raystown lake to fish today.  He didn't catch anything except seaweed but we had a fun day.  They gave out little back packs filled with candy and things for all the kids, served lunch, and awarded trophies for each age category.  Too bad they didn't have a trophy for the most seaweed caught!

Will was just excited to use his new "hot rod" fishing pole that grandad bought him for Christmas.

If you look closely in the picture on the side of Will's face you can also see the results of his latest incident.  He fell down our back steps yesterday and somehow got his head caught between the deck support post and the firewood pile.  Talk about a sight to stop your heart.  It scared me to death.  Thankfully he only ended up with a few scrapes and bruises - it really could have been bad.

Tadpoles!

We went to Covington and Richmond this weekend.  While we were at mom's house, Kristen took me and Will on a hike to search for tadpoles.  She knew about a small wetlands area on Pott's Creek so we walked up there to check for tadpoles in a small pond.  Will was very exited about it so luckily we found some!  They were so plentiful that Will was able to catch them simply by scooping his net in the water.  It was a muddy walk but we were fortunate to stay dry - it started raining as soon as we got back in the car!

After visiting in Covington we drove to Richmond to visit Aunt Andrea and some other friends.  Will had fun playing with Breeann at Laurie and Bryon's on Sunday evening.  We spent time with Andrea on Monday while Jerry was in meetings for work.  Will loved Squeaky, her cat, and he also enjoyed the fish and waterfalls at Bass Pro Shops where we had lunch.  His other favorite part was the strawberries and watermelon Andrea gave him.  She bought him his own personal size watermelon but he spotted the big one on her counter and asked if he could have that one instead!  It was hard not to laugh while I explained to him why that was rude!

We happened to catch this little salamander while we were scooping up tadpoles.

Will loves feeding the tadpoles but he always tells me he doesn't want them
to grow into frogs because he doesn't want to let them go.

Happy Birthday to Mommy

Jerry and Will baked my favorite kind of cake for my birthday - yellow with chocolate icing!  They also took me to Mimi's for my birthday dinner.  I really enjoyed my candles since they were the only surprise I had left after Will told all over the weekend!

A Mother's Day Surprise (sort of)

Will and Jerry went shopping for Mother's Day this evening.  Promptly upon returning home Will announced "We got you a card!"  I laughed so hard I couldn't stand it.  It got even better a few minutes later when he said "And we got you flowers too!"  So Jerry went ahead and gave me my flowers, explaining that Will had picked them out and had done very well resisting the strong temptation to buy me a car (which was what HE wanted, of course)!

The "icing on the cake" came just a few minutes later when Will shared that they planned to bake me my very own cake for my birthday - and that they got funny candles for me!  I guess they did some birthday shopping too, and Will is no good at keeping a secret!  Now I'm anxious to see what "funny candles are!

What a great laugh for Mother's Day!  What mother could ask for more than a child that can bring so much laughter!

Snuggling with Mommy Again

Snuggling with Mommy

Will came over to me and wanted to snuggle on the sofa before bedtime tonight.  I love snuggling him so much and realize that's not something that will last forever.  Despite my horrible memory, I always want to remember the days when he asks to snuggle with me so I decided I'd try to get a picture.  I didn't have any real hope that it would work and I was actually worried that he would want to get down after he saw the camera, but I tried anyway.  I'm so glad I did because this was one of those rare moments that he wanted to be in the picture.  I told him I was taking a picture of myself and he thought it was funny to get in "my" picture.  Looking back at the pictures I thought it was so cute to see that our shirts even match.  It was just meant to be!

I have a germ

Today Jerry asked WIll if he would like to share a milkshake for dessert after dinner.  Will first said yes and got very excited.  Then, he toned it down a little and said, "But Daddy I still have that germ.  I can't share any with you since I have a germ!"

He will devise any reason not to share his food (unless it's a vegetable, or a VERY tiny bite)!

Jenny, Craig & Brittney's Visit

Jenny bought Will an Easter basket (his THIRD this year!) when they came to visit this weekend.  Will enjoyed playing with the huge bubble wand after we went to Mayfest.

He asked me to take a picture of his big bubble.
