We're Just Looking Today
Jerry and Will are playing with play dough. Jerry made Will a dollar bill and told him he could use it to buy something from mommy. I came over and asked him what he would like to buy with that dollar. He said "I don't want to buy anything - we're just looking today". I can't believe he has ever heard that enough to pick up on it and use it correctly! Too cute!!

Will and the Cereal Box
I had left the cereal box out on the counter after breakfast and Will found it sitting there. He asked if he could put it away so I told him sure he could. Then he looked at the box and said "well I dont think I can lift it"
Then he took the box and got really close to it and wrinkled his forehead in concentration and said "see it says right here (pointing to some words) this box is for mommies to carry" "mommies please carry the box" "see thats what the box says"
So I said ok I will put it away and then I started laughing. And he said "don't laugh at me mommy - its too late!"

Playing Football
Will asked if I wanted to play football today. I said yes, and we went to opposite sides of the living room. He said he was going to sit down and I said it might be easier to throw if he stood up instead.
Will: "But I haven't eaten my pie so my legs can't stand up" (meaning the turkey pot pie I'm cooking for dinner)
Me: Oh, I see - you don't have enough energy to stand up because you are famished"
Will: Yes, but I can try to stand up.
So he stood up in front of the couch and then immediately fell backwards onto it.
Will: See - I can't even stand up.
So then he sat down and threw the ball to me
Me: Wow that was a good throw - you must have a little energy left
Will: I have some energy in my arms but my legs don't have any left!

Talking with Your Mouth Open
Will was jumping off the couch today and apparently bit his lip a little when he landed. So he got back up on the couch, told me he had bit his lip a little, and then held his mouth open while saying "I'm iong oo eep eye outh oen when i am umping o I on't ite I ip again" (I am going to keep my mouth open when I am jumping so I don't bite my lip again)
It was hilarious!!

That's Not Hilarious
Will was jumping onto the couch. When I laughed at him he looked over at me and said "Thats not hilarious mommy!"

Will Earned his First Quarter
Last night I asked Will if he wanted to help me pick up his toys around the house and he said no. Then I asked him if he would like to earn a quarter by picking up his toys. He thought for a second and then got a thoughtful look on his face and said "if I earn a quarter can I use it to buy something?" I told him yes, he could add it to the little bit of money he had left from grandma and he could buy something. He promptly and happily got up and helped me pick up his toys.
Jerry was proud - he earned his first quarter before he turned three - but Jerry thought I should have started at a dime instead!!

Earning Money
When Jerry walked in from work today the first thing Will said was "You don't look like you earned much money today!"
We hadn't even talked about anything remotely like that today!

Halloween 2010
Will decided early this year that he wanted to dress up as Napoleon for Halloween and he never swayed from that decision. It took forever to find a costume with Napoleon's coloring! But it was worth it - look how cute he is and how happy it made him to dress up like his "favorite" dog!

JB Tree Farm Visit
We visited the JB Tree Farm while Jenny and Craig were here this weekend. We went through their corn maze and took a hay ride. We also bought way too many corn stalks to fit in the vehicle and I spent the rest of the day climbing around them to get out of the Explorer!
Will and Brittney climbed the hay mountain and Will actually crawled through the tunnel underneath (it was dark in there)! |

Reading to Josie
Vocabulary Lesson
You may have thought they were called lima beans, but they are "wild" beans.
Also, lollipops is pronounced "wollypops".
Gramatically, if you want to use the word "that", as in the store that sells food, you instead use the word "what". The store what sells food. (I have no idea where he got that from!)

Will's Million Dollar Question
Two nights ago we gave Will a bath and wrapped him in his towel afterward. He was laying on the bed in his towel and we were talking like we always do. He was looking up at the ceiling fan and asked me what that little ball was. I looked up to see what little ball he was talking about, but didn't see anything so I asked "What little ball, honey?" Will said "this little ball right here", at which point I realized he was talking about something in his hand. So I opened his towel and found that he had hold of his own "little balls"!!
So calmly I followed all the advise in the parenting books and gave him the proper name of that body part... "Those are your testicles, honey." Hilarious crisis averted.... I thought. Then he promptly asks "What are they for Mommy?" Unfortunately, parenting books haven't provided an age-appropriate description of the function of testicles. But not to worry... Daddy stepped in to solve the problem and advised Will that your testicles are there to keep your peepee from floating away!!!
Needing to correct Daddy's explanation, (which would certainly result in unfounded fears that his peepee could randomly float away), but lacking a better explanation myself, I told him that his testicles were there for his peepee to lay on!!!
McDonald's Toy
I cleaned out a junk drawer yesterday and found an old McDonald's toy. I layed it on the counter to give to Will later. He got up on his step stool and saw it laying there and asked if I could open it for him. I told him yes, and as I was opening the package, he looked up at me and said so seriously "How do my toys get away from me?"
